The Efforts of Natural Resources and Environment Conservation Environmentally in order to Actualize Kuningan Regency as Conservation District in West Java Province

Background of the research is the amount of natural resources and environment is limite. It does not match with the human population which increse each time. With such conditions will arise out of balance condition and causes environmental damage caused by the processing and utilization of natural resources and the environment are not well done. To overcome this issue, the government make the program Conservation District. Kuningan Regency has the potential of natural resources and environmental resources. In 2006, Kuningan Regency was proclaimed himself as a Conservation District, but the implementation is still having some problems, especially in matters of human resources policy and local government. Conservation of natural resources and environment environmentally indispensable in terms of commitment to succeed Kuningan Regency as Conservation District.
Issues that were examined in this research are what is the potential of natural resources and the environment held by Kuningan Regency of West Java province in order to actualize Conservation District, and how is the efforts of natural resources and environment conservation environmentally in order to actualize Conservation District in Kuningan Regency of West Java Province.
The purpose of this research are to investigate the potential of natural resources and the environment held by Kuningan Regency of West Java province in order to actualize Conservation District and to determine the conservation of natural resources and environment in order to actualize environmentally Conservation District in Kuningan regency of West Java Province.
The hypothesis in this research are Kuningan Regency has eight natural resources and four types of protected areas. The effort that must be done is to disseminate to all people, establish protected areas as a means of conservation, policies that support conservation district policies.
The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative data collection techniques through field observations, interviews, distributing questionnaires, literature review and study documentation. The analysis technique used is a simple statistical analysis. The population in this research is the Kuningan Regency located in 32 districts. Sampling in this study using sampling jugmental to the government, the sample clusters and quotas for protected areas, and simple random sampling technique to the public, with a sample of 121 respondents.
Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that Kuningan Regency has the potential of natural resources such as forestry, farming, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, water, geothermal, tourism; forested protected areas of the city, the Kuningan Botanical Gardens, Ciremai Mountain National Park, and Natural Park. Efforts were made to preserve the natural resources and the environment in order to realize environmentally Conservation District is to disseminate to the public because of 86 respondents (71.07%) claimed to have never received counseling and socialization or result in respondents' knowledge about them, establish protected areas because it is one of the criteria for determining the status of Conservation District, and to make such regulations governing local Conservation District policy. Kuningan Regency has fill 65% the element criteria for determining the status of Conservation District.
Authors suggest the government is expected to establish good coordination within the government in order to create synchronization, and are expected to socialize or counseling regarding the conservation of natural resources and the environment and commitment Conservation District. The public should begin to realize the importance of preserving natural resources and the environment.
